Clinical Midwifery and Recent Research

Certified Nurse Midwife. The Kaiser Permanente Medical Group, Northern California, 2018- present. Attending Midwife and Clinical Faculty on Labor and Delivery and Postpartum teaching and supervising Ob/Gyn residents in clinical intrapartum management and didactic instruction in vaginal delivery skills, fetal monitoring, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, perinatal hepatitis management and perinatal HIV care. Member of the Normal Term Singleton Vertex Vaginal Delivery Working Group- clinical research group with aim to improve NTSV rates and overall quality of care at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center. Midwife lead of the Critical Events Team Training group designing and running drills for critical emergencies including amniotic fluid embolism, obstetric cardiac arrest, massive postpartum hemorrhage and peri-mortem cesarean section. Recipient of the CNM Teaching Award 2021.

Author and Contributing Editor. Clinical Guidelines in Midwifery Practice. Author of the chapter on Covid-19 Management in Pregnancy and editor for chapters on Lymes Disease, CMV, Parvovirus B-19, Hepatitis, Herpes Virus, and Second and Third Trimester Bleeding to be published in 2025.

PhD candidate, International Health. Curtin University, Bentley, Western Australia. PhD candidate 2012-2018. “Development, Implementation and Utilisation of a Mobile Technology Enhanced, Combined Electronic Medical Record and Clinical Decision Support System for the Co-management of HIV and Pregnancy”. Designed and implemented a mobile technology enhanced, cloud-based, OpenMRS facilitated combined electronic medical record and clinical decision support system focused on the co-management of pregnancy and HIV.  Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. 1998-2000. Laboratory research technician. Isolated proteins for use in studies evaluating cytokines involved in cell division. Isolated and reproduced gene fragments for use in identifying the functional subunit of the Gal4 promoter gene.

Oberlin College. 1998. Laboratory research involving mutation of the central region of Troponin I in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Results presented at the Biophysical Society Meeting of 1999.

School for International Training, Mumbai, India. 1997. “AIDS Intervention Programs in Mumbai.” Research focusing on the history of HIV/AIDS in India, education, outreach and treatment programs in Mumbai, India, the epidemic in context of the global epidemic and predictions for the future. 

Brigham and Women’s Hospital. 1997. Member of a clinical research team determining the effect of cholesterol and triglyceride levels at different trimesters on the development of preeclampsia and gestational hypertension.
